Objectives
On completion of this module, students should be able to carry out a literature search in a defined area of chemistry, using books, reviews and journals as source material, and to write a developed and coherent dissertation which highlights the continuing developments in the chosen area.

Will vary according to the precise topic chosen by the student.
Syllabus
The project will be allocated from a list of available topics which are appropriate to the overall scheme of study, taking into account the preferences of the student, and will be supervised by a member of staff.
The project requires the selection and detailed study of relevant literature, and the submission of a written dissertation of up to 4,000 words.
Each topic will focus on an aspect of modern chemistry, so as to require the location of original papers in the primary scientific literature, and to gain an appreciation of the continuing developments in the chosen area.

100 hours - collection and evaluation of literature and preparation of dissertation.
Opportunities for Formative Feedback
Supervision by a member of staff throughout the project via email and telephone; including formatted list of references and feedback on draft report.
